Medicare Supplement Plans
Medicare doesn’t cover all hospital (Part A) and medical (Part B) costs. Specifically, Part A has a benefit period deductible, copayments for extended stays as an inpatient and copayments for a covered-stay in a Skilled Nursing Facility (from days 21 -100). Part B has a calendar-year deductible, 20% coinsurance and excess charges which may be imposed by providers. Without secondary insurance known as Medicare Supplement, also known as Medigap, a Medicare beneficiary would be responsible for all these costs.
With Original Medicare (Parts A and B) and a Medicare Supplement Plan, you’ll enjoy the freedom to visit any doctor who accepts Medicare, anytime for a Medicare-approved expense and anywhere in the United States and U.S. territories.
